• In 2008, Franklin County had at least 345 full-time childcare centers providing 34,672 slots, 160 Out of School Time programs with 9,791 slots,150 preschools with 7,540 slots, 29 Head Start programs with 1,924 slots, and 418 family child care homes providing 2,514 slots.
• In 2008, there were 77,363 children under age 5 and 39,698 female-headed households with children under age 18 in Franklin County, which are indicators of the need for childcare services.
