The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.

  • In Franklin County, 111,901 students (68.3%) are in districts with 2007-08 graduation rates above the state average, while 51,963 students (31.7%) are in districts with a graduation rate below the state average.
  • In the 2007-08 school year, 15 of Franklin County’s 16 school districts were at or above the Ohio Department of Education standard for graduation rate. This figure is one higher than 2006-07, with the Hamilton Localschool district raising its graduation rate from 77.5% to 93.0%.
  • Among Ohio’s “Big 8” metropolitan school districts, Columbus City Schools ranked 7th with a graduation rate of 70.9% in 2007-08. Toledo fared best with a 86.6% graduate rate. Only Cleveland ranked worse than Columbus, with a graduation rate of 53.7%.
