The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.
- In four Franklin County school districts with significant African-American populations (Columbus, Groveport, Reynoldsburg, and Whitehall), graduation rates were higher for African-American students than for white students during the 2007-08 school year. Ohio Reading Graduation Test passage rates were lower for African-American students in all nine districts.
- In 2008-09, each of the nine Franklin County school districts analyzed showed female students had higher graduation rates than male students. Female students also had higher Reading Ohio Graduation Test passage rates than male students in six of the nine school districts, however males had higher Math Test scores in five of the nine districts.
- Whites and Asians generally performed better than blacks and Hispanics on the reading and math OGT exams in 2008-09, though the extent of this difference varied by school district.
