- The Ohio Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System estimates that in 2002, 57.6% of Franklin County adults (453,323 persons) and 24.8% of children (68,867 persons) were overweight or obese. The prevalence of overweight for adults in 2002 was found to be greater among blacks and males than whites and females.
- The percentage of Franklin County adults who smoke cigarettes declined from 23.6% in 2000 to 30.6% in 2004, before descreasing back down to 21.1% in 2008. The percentage of smokers in the U.S. has declined 4.8% since 2000.
