- The population of the Columbus MSA increased by 160,279 people (9.9%) between 2000 and 2008.
- Between 2000 and 2008, all eight counties in the Columbus MSA experienced population growth, with Delaware County experiencing the greatest raw (55,037) and percentage (50.0%) growth over the period. Among all US counties with at least 10,000 people, Delaware was the 21st fastest growing.
- Between 2000 and 2008, Delaware (37,500), Fairfield (13,749), and Licking (6,038) counties experienced net population increases through in-migration of 6,000 or more persons, while Union (4,161), Morrow (1,560), Pickaway (671), and Madison (532) counties had modest net gains through migration, and Franklin County experienced net out-migration of 40,179 during the period.
