The following are key points from the data in the tables and graphs found on the “Data” tab. The “Sources and Notes” tab provides additional information about the data.
  • In 2008, blacks represented 45.2% of those committed to state prison facilities from the Franklin County court system, although they comprised only 19.3% of the adult population of Franklin County.
  • In 2008, 41.5% of those committed from Franklin County courts did not have a high school diploma or GED and 39.1% were unemployed.  Nearly half of those committed had a juvenile record (46.3%). Drug abuse (75.5%) in the past 6 months was more common than alcohol abuse (44.4%).
