- The number of property crime offenses
in the City of Columbus was 48,282 in 2008, the lowest annual
count in the past decade and more than 14,000 fewer than in 2001.
- The FBI’s Uniform Crime Index Program
indicated that the property crime category decreased in the United
States by 1.4% between 2007 and 2008. In Columbus, the number
of property crimes decreased by 6.2% during this period.
- The FBI's Uniform Crime Index reported
other Franklin County cities had the following numbers of property
crimes in 2007: Whitehall, 1,682; Reynoldsburg, 1,303; Grove City, 1,060; Gahanna, 940; Hilliard,
893; Westerville, 918; ; Dublin,
733; Bexley, 408; Grandview
Heights, 190; and Groveport, 189.
